Cardiomyocyte Monitoring In article number 2202235, Chunyu Chang, Donghui Zhang, and co-workers develop micropatterned hydrogels with anisotropic structural colors by locking shear-oriented tunicate cellulose nanocrystals (TCNCs) in hydrogel networks through situ polymerization. The autonomous beating of cardiomyocytes drives synchronous deformations the hydrogels, causing periodic changes transmittance colors. This system has potential as a high-throughput assay to visually monitor cardiomyocyte function.
